This is the first lightning I've EVER managed to capture. That alone makes me happy. The picture isn't the best, but not too bad for my first capture, if I do say so myself. You can also see some ducks on my neighbor's pond if you look closely.

My neighbors looked at me weird when they saw me setting up the camera and tripod...

Well thanks. Had I gotten all my stuff together about 10 minutes sooner, I could have gotten some AWESOME shots. This was after the storm had moved on a bit, but it still makes me happy.

I've got a Canon xsi. I had it hooked up to my laptop so I wouldn't have to worry about running out of room and could control it easier. Lightning is a pain to get a picture of. I took nearly 200 shots and only got a handful worth looking at.

Yea i bet! Lightning is so freaking fast. I mean this is a legit picture of it too! That's a nice camera! Ive been wanting to get a actual legit camera for a while, but i don't have any money to at the moment. So i'll have to wait a while longer XP

That model I have just recently got discontinued and I got a really good deal on it, or else I would still be making do with my hand-me-down point and shoot from 5 or 6 years ago.

The strategy with getting lightning is basically set the camera on the tripod, set the shutter to stay open for a few seconds, and hope you get lightning after you press the button.
